About

Dr. Chantel Dooley is the Director of Impact Assessment and Research for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). She joined TAPS as the surviving fiance of Captain Alex Stanton, Special Agent, USAF. Before joining the TAPS family, Dr. Dooley served as a high school science teacher for 7 years. It was during her teaching career that Dr. Dooley honed and developed her skills as an innovative instructor and communicator, as well as a creative problem-solver. It was these skills that would later lead Dr. Dooley to pursue her doctorate, specifically focusing on research on how people think, learn, and how to capture growth in learning. Recognized internationally for her work in evidence-based practices, Dr. Dooley’s experience as an innovator, creator, teacher, and survivor supports the TAPS mission to ensure all programs and services meet the needs of all those grieving the death of a military loved one. As the Director of Impact Assessment and Research for TAPS, she has published the TAPS Bereavement Model, managed the collection, dissemination, and messaging of TAPS research and data, and has seamlessly integrated empirical measures into TAPS programs in order to capture the growth, as well as the needs, of all TAPS survivors. Dr. Chantel Dooley is a board member of the American Modeling Teachers Association (AMTA) and the co-founder of STEMteachersPHX, a nonprofit organization where the mission is to stimulate best teaching practices in STEM. Chantel also volunteers with ATHENA Valley of the Sun as the Awards Committee Chair organizing and facilitating the ATHENA Valley of the Sun Honoring ATHENA Inspired Leaders (HAIL) Awards. She embraces this opportunity to work with amazing women leaders from the Phoenix Valley and constantly improve her own leadership skills.
