I’ve had a very interesting last few years, with several major changes, but took a position with the State of Illinois Department of Human Services toward the beginning of 2019. This position entails research, effective writing (which is, at times, used in court), discretionary decision-making, public interaction, and changing dynamics with ever-evolving policy and guidelines interpretation. And, of course, there is the ubiquitous inter-office politics that one must delicately navigate while fulfilling the duties of the position. Though I look to be with the State for years to come and am grateful to have such a stable position, I am always open to new opportunities. In 2017 I had a major health issue that raised my awareness of many things and enlightened me on what a spectacular, supportive, and giving community I was raised in.
