Chase Baker

I completed my undergraduate at CSU Channel Islands with a BS in Biology. I’m a graduate student at CSU Northridge in Dr. Lisa Banners lab. My area of study is in molecular and cellular biology with an emphasis in neuro-immunology. I study immune proteins in mice models. Thesis: Examining the role of immune proteins in the prediabetic brain: A neuroimmune connection. As an undergraduate I worked in a neuroscience lab (2 years) at CSUCI under Dr. Gareth Harris. I researched the effects of mood disorder treatments on sensory behavior and decision making in the model C. Elegans. I presented this research at scientific conferences around the country. My second research project was a collaboration across multiple science fields using a variety of organisms and assays. I have experienced multiple areas of healthcare including nursing, internal medicine, and surgery (over 1,500 hours). I Assisted in launching an FDA approved drug and medical device into the healthcare field aiding in hormone replacement therapy working under an OBGYN. From the moment I delved into biological research, I knew it was my destiny to make it my career and my life’s work. My passion for the subject drives my ambitions and is the basis for my life goals.
