About
Howdy! I joined the Navy in 2009 and was immediately introduced to the IT world. I soon discovered that it was not the career that I had hoped for and decided to look at other options. I separated in 2013 and followed my husband to NC where I enrolled at Barton College in Wilson, NC. I graduated in 2017 with a Bachelors of Science, concentration in Cellular Biology. I was given a wonderful opportunity to be an Intern at the Duke Lemur Center where I constructed and implemented a research project with a lemur living in captivity to provide enrichment to his life. During my scholastic career, I was employed at Cape Fear Animal hospital where I gained experience in the daily operations of a veterinary hospital. I was also afforded several chances to observe surgeries and gain valuable advice. Soon after, we moved to San Antonio, TX where I worked at the San Antonio Zoo as a Veterinary Assistant Intern/Volunteer. I was able to observe a Veterinarian while she conducted several exams, surgeries, and procedures. It was a worthwhile experience that solidified a passion to become a Veterinarian. I have many hobbies that include traveling and spending time in outdoors. I have hiked part of the John Muir Trail and participated in many long distance, endurance runs. I have one German Shepherd, one Belgian Malinois, and a 19yr old cat that keep me busy as well. I thrive on challenges, mental or physical, and I enjoy overcoming them. I am constantly trying learn more each day. I am proud that this drive aided my acceptance into Texas A&M University Veterinary School Class of 2023 where I hope to graduate and continue to contribute to the veterinary community.
