Chengyi(Ethan) Xu

I graduated with a Masters in Information(Data Science Specialization) at the School of Information, University of Michigan. Previously, I had a master’s degree in finance from Syracuse University. My finance degree has provided me with a strong business background, and it was during this time that my interest in data science was first sparked. In addition to that, my graduate study in information has further allowed me to explore the applications of data science to enable strategies. I'm immensely passionate about finding trends in datasets and leveraging data for informed decision making. A strong educational background in both, data science and finance, supplemented with the experience of working in a global, cross-functional setting, has equipped me with the skills needed to serve as a valuable organizational asset. I consider the ability to be a fast learner, attention to detail, multitasking and communication skills to be my core strengths. I aim to leverage my strong problem-solving and analytical skills to optimize business processes and conceptualize innovative technology solutions that can transform into great business opportunities. As a person, I am extremely driven and always yearn to achieve my goals. I enjoy reading books related to history and I am an electronics enthusiast. I was on debate team for three years and two years as a captain. I lead my school team to winning the university debate competition championship. Debating taught me logical thinking and ways to convey my idea into the heart of the audience.
