Chris Williamson

Chris is a registered architect with over 35 years’ experience in practice and 30 years in infrastructure which includes the design and masterplanning of stations, high speed rail, complex interchanges, underground, overground and light rail stations. Since forming Weston Williamson in 1985, Chris has primarily specialised in infrastructure and urban planning projects within the UK and abroad, for clients such as High Speed 2, Crossrail 1&2, London Underground, Network Rail, Docklands Light Railway, London Overground, Transport for London, Dubai Transport Authority the Malaysian Transport Authority, Sydney Metro and Melbourne Metro. Chris was the partner in charge of the Jubilee Line Station at London Bridge 1991-1999 and has since led projects for Crossrail at Paddington and Woolwich, the DLR extension to London City Airport, Woolwich and Stratford and Pudding Mill Lane. He has worked in the USA, Dubai, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. Chris leads the studio's Transport Oriented Development (TOD) initiative proposing city growth around high speed rail. He has spoken at conferences and events, promoting TOD and sustainable city development linked to rail both in the UK and abroad. In addition to being an Architect, Chris plays a very active role in various professional organisations. Chris is a registered Project Manager and an active member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and the Institute of Collaborative Working. Chris has acted as an expert witness for TWA and planning enquiries. He was an RIBA council member 2013-2019 and former RIBA International Vice President, having served as RIBA Ambassador for Business Skills from 2015-2017. In Feb 2016, Chris was inducted as a Freeman of the City of London and is a Court Assistant at the Worshipful Company of Architects and sits on the Education Committee.
