About
“Everyone is a genius, but if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid” ~ Albert Einstein All young people have dreams, talents and passions in life, some may just need some help figuring out what they are and how to move forward. I have a passion for creativity, innovation and fun which I bring to all my work with children, youth and their families. Due to my studies and years of experience I have an advanced skill set for working with those who have been impacted by childhood trauma. I come with a large tool kit of knowledge, strategies, interventions and professional network to support young people through the challenges of life. I also have extensive training in Advantage Thinking and am aware that a preoccupation with crisis and disadvantage can itself become a barrier to achieving positive outcomes. An advantage thinking approach sets the focus on the passions and talents of youth which creates a platform of aspirations and innovation which young people can grow from. Other areas of experience and expertise include: • working within youth residential settings • youth mental health • working with young people in the Child Protection system • delivering anger management education • working with young people leaving care • working in the youth homelessness sector • working with young parents • creating and running various youth projects • acting in a senior role within a busy team of case workers.
