Christian Hanley

Christian is an experienced political, communications, and public relations professional with a proven record of success in scoring a win for clients and getting the people and issues that matter the placement they deserve in national media. He brings his breadth of experience in TV, digital, and print media to create exciting multi-platform communications that get attention and win results. Trained in the law and experienced in politics, Christian uses a strategic lens and plans each step to reach clients’ goals. Christian previously served as the director of communications and public relations for SEIU Local 500, the fastest-growing union in the greater Washington, D.C. Area. During his time there, he supported the union in expanding its communications and outreach efforts and worked hand-in-hand with the political department to pass landmark pro-worker legislation. In the years before joining SEIU Local 500, Christian ran Defiance Strategies, where he provided comprehensive campaign and strategic communications services to clients ranging from candidates for office to labor unions and independent expenditures. He began operations while completing law school, seeing a need to bring tighter messaging, shrewd strategy, and a marketing mindset to the progressive space. Christian earned his Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C. And his B.A. From the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. A student of several languages, he is fluent in French and has provided commentary in both English and French for American, Canadian, French, and global news outlets.
