Christina Founta

Christina Founta is a Consultant Gynaecologist with special interest in Gynaecological Oncology and colposcopy lead at Guy’s & St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust. She is also collaborating with “Mitera” Hospital in Athens, Greece and is a consultant in the hospital’s colpscopy clinic. Christina has done a lot of research and clinical work in colposcopy and cervical pathology resulting in peer reviewed publications and presentations in national/international conferences. She was previously a Consultant Gynaecologist & Diagnostics Lead in Musgrove Park Hospital and a Research Fellow in Northern Gynaecological Oncology Centre, Gateshead where she co-led and helped set up the department as the international training centre for DySIS colposcopy. Her PhD is on cervical healing after LLETZ for CIN and its correlation with the proportion of volume of tissue excised. She is also research active in other fields of gynaecological oncology and diagnostics and has been a member of national and international research groups. Her current interests include colposcopy and cervical pathology, gynaecological cancer diagnostics, complex gynaecological surgery and laparoscopic surgery.
