Christopher Hawkins

Music has always been a passion of mine since my Junior Year of high school. I love to sing, write and perform. Something about creating beautiful sounds from scratch. When I discovered my gift for crafting music, I knew I wanted to share this gift with others. It became a huge motivator for me in life, seeing others' emotional responses to my music and how their reactions affected me. I love being able to give my audience the experience of truly living in the moment with the music, taking in every sound. By age 20, I began to teach others about what I had learned in my studies. As I continued my musical journey, I discovered along the way how much I loved teaching music to children, which I have been doing for the last 15 years. It has become my greatest passion to help teach, educate, and train students in the skill required to succeed as musicians and singers. I want to take what I have learned and introduce it to my students to help stimulate their minds and help tap into their creative musical talents they may not even be aware of. My passion for music and teaching it to kids specifically stems from the creativity within me. One of my goals is to inspire students to explore the depth of music that will prepare them for life as they become functioning members of society. Some of the highlights throughout my career include: I signed a contract and publishing deal with Atlantic Records and Warner Chappell from 1992 to 1996. Touring with Prince, James Brown, Switch, Tramaine Hawkins, and The Winans. Vocal and music production Studio Session work with Michael Bolton, Janet Jackson, Shanice Wilson, Al Jarreau, and Mariah Carey. I have sung in commercials for California Raisins, Alamo Rent-a-Car, and In Concert against AIDS. My television appearances include the MTV Tommy Hilfiger Awards, a performance with Natalie Cole, and the Tramiane Hawkins Fall Down on CBS. Some of my notable directing experience includes being the Choir Director for the children’s choir at FAME (First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Los Angeles), and the Praise and Worship leader at Resurrection Church. Lastly, I arranged vocal parts and recorded my singing for the soundtrack of the movies Beverly Hills Cop 2 and Snow Dogs.
