Through service and experiences in local church discovered gifts of teaching and was encouraged to enter full-time ministry. Followed wife's career as a mainframe computer programmer while migrating from the PCA to the EPC to the PCUSA. After ordination, I worked in three revitalization congregations. This started me fighting against seeing the church is a country club and pushing others to see the church like a caravan. I want people to quit worrying about appearance for appearance sake, saving face, remaining insular, and thinking only about themselves. Instead, I want the church to focus upon the journey to wholeness and holiness with God, inviting others to join in the journey with them, and everybody taking part in supporting and assisting one another in the journey. Many years ago, I developed an excruciating upper-back pain for 1 1/2 years. Although I cried out for a miraculous cure, the pain ceased after a long time of medical care and physical therapy. The medicine I took unknowingly gave me ulcers, which ate a hole in my stomach, which eventually infected my body and almost killing me. My gall bladder also became “sluggish.” Botched surgery led to a block bile duct. After months of recuperating, surgery to take out half of my stomach, repair the block bile duct, and take out my gall bladder was planned. Even though I was not in pain and was trusting the medical staff to cure me of my problems, three days before surgery everything was working perfectly. God had this time given me a miraculous cure, even though I was not asking for it. I didn’t need the miracle, but I think the surgeon did. I have not have any major medical problems since.
