I have golfed most of my life and have learned some business lessons by playing it. Golf can be a humbling game, some days I am good at hitting a drive but other days I need to figure out why I missed my target. Reevaluation and learning new techniques are important in business, too. Golf is a game that requires goal setting, aiming for a target and determining the best approach to have success. Learning the language and communicating with players is also another skill that is not only on the course but in a business setting. As a golfer and a professional, I enjoy building relationships and encouraging each other along the way. Lastly is the importance of details and judgement, I have learned through golf that I need to read the course and apply my knowledge on hitting the ball correctly.Golfers have to exhibit diversity when they play the game, so in business I use my diverse background: Director of Sales, Volunteer Coordinator, Accountant, Event Planner, and Board Officer in each role. Also soft skills: persistence, relationship building, teamwork, coach and ability to know when it is necessary to be a leader or a team player. Those I have worked with know that I am dependable, innovative and willing to take the lead on a project. A communicator in everything I do. I look for opportunities to share good news through social media or media releases. Increased visibility of an organization by 1,000%Retention: Sales Director increased sales by 25% in less than a year. As a Scout leader, I doubled the number of participants while coaching young leaders who earned the highest award for their age level. As a visionary, I am optimistic, embrace a sense of purpose, and a live a life of integrity:PTA Volunteer of the Year, Houston All Star and Outstanding Individual Effort from the City of Houston Mayor and Police Chief. I look forward to continue to do this in my current role.
