I have worked in payroll for over 10 years and love the work. In the last 12 months I have been promoted to payroll senior which is assistant to the payroll manager. I assist with all duties in this regard as in running the payroll paying the bacs collecting direct debits and dealing with adhoc payments directly out of the business account and ensuring we get those payments back. I work in a very fast paced office with big deadlines. I just feel that I could move upwards now maybe into a payroll manager roll. I covered this roll whilst our payroll manager was on maternity leave for 9 months and totally enjoyed it and would love to continue with this more senior role. Our team do payrolls for around 1000 people per week and a lot of these include manually entering the timesheets on to our system, as you can imagine there is room for error in this way and so the end of the week we deal with any errors or queries that come through and work with our customers to ensure things are put right and dealt with in a timely and professional manner. We work with vulnerable people in our society so sympathy and empathy is needed at all times. Professional but a friendly service is needed at all times and I totally love my job and would just like to further my career.
