Cornelia Ilie

Cornelia Ilie is Professor of English Linguistics at Malmö University, Sweden. She is the President of ESTIDIA (European Society for Transcultural and Interdisciplinary Dialogue), whose aim is to promote European research collaboration by initiating joint research and teaching activities with an intercultural and multilingual scope: http://www.estidia.eu Cornelia Ilie is Consultation Board Member of the International Pragmatics Association (IPrA): https://pragmatics.international/ She was Associate Member of CoE PolCon (the Centre of Excellence in Political Thought and Conceptual Change), at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland: http://www.coepolcon.fi/researchers/46/cornelia-ilie Also she acted as External Examiner for the MSc degree ‘Intercultural Communication for Business and the Professions’, University of Warwick, UK, and Member of the Reference Group of Experts (Higher Education and Education For All) of IAU (International Association of Universities). Her research, which is internationally anchored and largely interdisciplinary, spans four main areas: pragma-semantics, institutional discourse analysis, intercultural rhetoric and argumentation theory. She has published extensively on institutional discourse, ideology and politeness, persuasive strategies in politics & media, parliamentary discourse practices, gender in communities of practice, rhetoric of academic writing.
