I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville majoring in Civil Engineering with a Transportation Emphasis. My goal is to get my PE License within the next year. While in college I learned much about the Civil Engineering field. Not only what one would be expected to be able to do, but also what personal skills one needs to be successful at it. The education I have received consists of all of the wide ranging classes demonstrating each area of Civil Engineering. I have completed in-depth transportation classes such as Highway Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Pavement Maintenance, Cost and Estimates and the Geographical Information System (GIS). Besides the knowledge I have gained from these classes, I have also been able to develop some personal skills during this time. These skills would include how to best work in a team-based environment, learning to more easily communicate with others, and how to best manage the time allotted. Besides my studies, I also participated in many extra-curricular's that further strengthen my skills. These include being a part of the American Society of Civil Engineer's, being in concrete canoe, participating in Intervaristy, and being very involved in UW-Platteville's music program. With these skills, I hope to continue to learn and better get to understand the transportation field.
