Craig Rayner

I currently work with XVR Simulation, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service as a Crew Commander at Stourport-on-Severn Fire Station and run and operate my own multimedia company Off The Film Media. XVR Simulation is a virtual reality company designed to teach and assess industries and emergency services in dealing with incidents and emergency planning. My current role is the Business and Training Manager UK and Ireland with my prime responsibilities covering the client base for the whole of the UK; this includes sales, account management, forecasts, technical and training support. Through XVR I also assist and mentor services and agencies in running development sessions and assessments from an operational level through tactical to strategic levels, including Gold Command. I joined the Fire and Rescue Service in 2011 as a retained duty system operational firefighter and have progressed myself to Supervisory Manager level as a Crew Commander. This role involves me managing the station and staff in both an operational and welfare capacity. As a Crew Commander I have responsibility for the development, planning and implementation of competency based training and assessment to meet the required vocational National Occupational Standards. When attending emergencies as the incident commander I am responsible for the health, safety and wellbeing of staff from multiple stations and members of the community who may be involved in the incident. As an incident commander it is my duty and responsibility to ensure consideration is also given to the protection of the environment whilst maintaining an effective and efficient incident solution to meet Service delivery needs in a time of austerity. In addition to my Crew Commander role I am also the Service’s primary incident command assessor across all command levels in the workplace.
