I am currently working for Sutter Health Care with the Home Care division as the Emergency Preparedness Program Manager. I cover the 24 different sites including. Home Care, Hospice, AIM, PACE, Timberlake, and Pharmacy Before that I was working in San Diego CA serving as Co-Chair of the San Diego Healthcare Disaster Council and the Lead Senior Safety Management Specialist for Sharp Healthcare in San Diego CA at the Sharp Metropolitan Medical Campus. I have been in the field of healthcare safety, engineering, and disaster preparedness for over 35 years. My career began at Hoag Memorial Hospital in Newport Beach, CA where I started as an engineer. In due course I was appointed the hospital’s Safety Officer and worked with the first team that developed HEICS (Hospital Emergency Incident Command System now known as HICS). In 2000, I moved to become the Director of Safety, Security, Transportation and Occupational Health at Tenet Healthcare in San Diego. In 2005 I accepted the Safety Officer position at Sharp Memorial Hospital and moved to Sharp Healthcare. The Sharp HealthCare system has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions including: 2013 Recycler of the Year City of San Diego Sharp Metropolitan Campus 2008 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award highest honor for quality & performance excellence.
