A firm believer in the power of bottom-up stock picking, I am endlessly fascinated by the constant interaction between economics and psychology that lies behind investing. In my role as UK Head at Orbis Investments, my goal is to help our UK-based teams deliver on behalf of clients and to help existing and potential clients understand the advantages (and disadvantages) of our long-term, fundamental and contrarian investment approach. Prior to this role, I spent 15 years as part of Orbis’ investment team covering autos, industrial stocks and the energy sector as well as building out the global sector research team. I am a CFA Charterholder, Chartered Accountant and graduate of Brasenose College, Oxford where I studied PPE (Politics, Philosophy and Economics). I strongly believe that, in order to offer a better deal, active investment managers need to align their interests more closely with their clients and I welcome any opportunity to discuss how this can be better achieved. Finally, I am proud to have been able to support World Bicycle Relief with their mission to empower students, health workers, and entrepreneurs in rural developing regions with life-changing mobility.
