Dan Scannell, Managing Director – Investments, has assumed the role of Area Manager for the Houston branch system after five years as Area Manager for Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. In North Carolina. This new appointment, which took place in late 2014, includes Houston’s main downtown branch, as well as satellites in The Woodlands, Austin and Kenedy, TX. His responsibilities include continuing the growth of Oppenheimer in South Texas and recruiting qualified Financial Advisors to the firm. From 2009-2014, thanks to the hard work of the Financial Advisors and staff in North Carolina, Dan and his team were able to help Oppenheimer improve overall productivity in the state’s Branch system by opening and/or expanding offices in the Asheville, Winston-Salem and Greensboro, NC markets. North Carolina’s notable growth was a result of a significant number of clients, businesses and families who chose to move their relationships to Oppenheimer as well as the more than 30 experienced advisors who have elected to move their respective practices to the Firm over the preceding five years. Before moving to Oppenheimer in 2009, Dan spent 18 years in a variety of increasingly responsible positions at Smith Barney. He began work there as a Financial Advisor in 1992 and became part of the company’s Blue Chip Council, which recognized the top new Financial Advisors at the firm. In 1996, Dan became the Divisional Training Officer for Smith Barney’s Southern Division. In 1997, he became Assistant Branch Manager in Atlanta. Subsequently, in 1999, he moved to North Carolina to manage the Asheville, Hendersonville, Brevard and Franklin branches. Located in the Pennzoil building in Houston’s thriving Theatre District, Oppenheimer’s office has a reputation for stellar service to our clients and outstanding support for our professional staff. The downtown office serves as the hub for Oppenheimer’s South Texas regional presence, including The Woodlands and Austin offices. I am licensed in the following states: TX, NC, MA.
