I have recently retired after a successful 36-year career as the Chief Legal Officer of a large financial institution in Pittsburgh, PA. Throughout my career in banking, I watched as technology was changing the way both banking and business operated, especially in the way companies paid their vendors and employees. Financial technology (Fintech) has created new opportunities for businesses of all sizes to improve their bottom line. I made many friends in all types of businesses over the last four decades. What I have observed is that many of these successful businesses continue to conduct operations the way they have always done it, which often includes using inefficient processes for paying employees and vendors.
