Daniel Yong Yew Rong

Daniel obtained his master’s degree in engineering science from UTAR. His work was on range estimation for electric vehicles. He has also successfully converted an engine vehicle into an electric vehicle together with a team.He studies Mechatronics engineering (Hons) for his degree from the same university. Other than studies, he spends most of his time during degree on improving himself, exposing himself to new technology (attending talks & exhibition) and tries to apply what he has learnt.One of the activity that shows he is learnt and applied person with passion for engineering, is his participation in two international competition namely Bosch Power Tools Asia Cordless Race 2011 and Schneider Electric’s “Go Green in the City 2013” University Challenge.For Cordless Race, together with his team, they had to design and build a go-kart powered by 4 cordless drills their journey stopped at the Grand finale in Beijing.For Go Green in the City, in a team of 3, they have won at the national level with their 'Smart Building Solutions' which showcased an integrated system that provides energy generation with smart monitoring and control of multiple innovative renewable energy sources. With that, they represented Malaysia to compete with other winning teams from ASEAN in Jakarta and their competition journey ends there. In his 4 years degree, he had joined Robocon competition yearly competing. He works in a team to build specific robots that solves the competition’s puzzle. The team would have to build, programme and test the robots from scratch within the competition constraints and University funding.Additionally, with his nature towards sustainable energy and greener environment, he is also keeping himself inform of the latest development in smart grid technology, energy management, and energy generation (both renewable and non-renewable). Daniel is also a member of BEM and IEM. He is trying to pursue his professional career as an Electrical Engineer.
