I'm part of the generation trying to change the face of HR (what I prefer to call "People Operations"). But in order to do so, we have to understand the system from the inside out. So you'll see that I started my career in the business as an accountant to better understand the financial structures in play when making key business decisions. However, while observing the financial complexities of Corporate America, my passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion began to grow. I noticed a need for a community space for people of color and started the ColorFull Experience to provide a platform that empowers the Black and LatinX community to collectively work on personal and professional development. A work in progress for sure. Starting my own business was my first real taste of entrepreneurship but also a reminder that I have what it takes to just do things differently. I've been committed to dreaming, problem-solving, and disrupting as creatively as possible ever since. And so, ColorFull propelled my drive to focus on the human experience in the workplace. I ultimately decided to leave accounting and found myself in Talent Strategy at Github where I supported the talent acquisition process and reimagined how we view talent in the workforce. Concurrently, I decided it was time to return to the books - leading to an MBA at the Wharton School. Naturally, I combined my interests in organizational effectiveness and entrepreneurship with general business to round out my time at Wharton. My journey to date formulated my aspirations to build structures that can help guide corporations of all sizes to be successful while keeping people top of mind. Today, you can find me at MD Clarity, a fast-growing health-tech company, doing that hard-hitting work through collaborations with the rest of the executive team to build a culture that enables growth while developing a scalable people strategy. Matter fact, in less than 12 months of being there, I've helped almost double the size of the organization. A lot of my efforts have gone to supporting the needs of the business and we've only started to scratch the surface of all things people. I hope my work at MD Clarity can exemplify all the positive possibilities of the future of work. As a people leader at MD Clarity, every day looks different but I get to do what I love most - put people first.
