Every company has stories to tell—stories that will not only engage, inform, and impact their customers, but that will also deliver on measurable business goals. I feel my story closely mirrors Kenco’s story. It is one of dedication, perseverance, and knowledge. Ella Wheeler Wilcox was an American poet born in 1850; she wrote a poem, entitled The Winds of Fate. While watching sailboats, it struck her how the same wind could drive some boats west and other boats east. She quickly realized the wind alone did not determine the direction of the boats. “Tis the set of the sails and not the gales which tell us the way to go.” Ella Wheeler Wilcox In my personal life, and at Kenco, we “set our sails” with guiding principles. The economy will expand and contract, and our business will go up and down. We will face challenges with clients, vendors, and each other. The prevailing winds’ intensities and direction will fluctuate, but in every circumstance, our sails are set, and our principles will determine our direction and give our story substance. I’ve been with Kenco for 20 years, and in that time I have experienced the logistics industry from the warehouse floor to the corporate headquarters. I have had the opportunity to see many of our customers come to us in desperation and stay with us through continued success. I am proud to say Kenco is a $1.2B+ North American full-service logistics company operating over 100 facilities with over 6,500 employees. I look forward to seeing my story continue to unfold within the greater Kenco story and culture.
