I am on a mission to break the repetitive cycle of the failure of staff training through my learning technology company, The Pocket Coach, which is set to revolutionise staff learning. Prior to founding The Pocket Coach, I was a management consultant specialising in training and development for the motor, hospitality, care home, IT and transportation industries. My early career was in acting and theatre, and I’ve also been a counsellor, psychotherapist, novelist, and children’s book author. CEO OF THE POCKET COACH COMPANY I launched The Pocket Coach Company in 2019 to give companies a rapid route to competence. In my work with organisations across the globe, I’ve seen first-hand why developing staff competence doesn’t work as well as it should: 1. Managers have insufficient time, tools and skills 2. Team members struggle without the right tools and support 3. Training providers hand the responsibility for application to learners and their managers The Pocket Coach provides managers and employees with the tools necessary to easily and quickly develop competence – and thus increasing sales, employee and customer satisfaction, and management engagement. It uses the proprietary competence development model (4DS) that I developed during my career as a sales trainer, and includes a unique peer support and sign-off approach that delegates responsibility whilst conforming to company standards. TRAINER & MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT I have designed sales and aftersales processes for major brands in the motor industry, trained sales and aftersales managers and their teams, audited staff performance, and worked closely with training academies in the design and delivery of training solutions. ACTING & THEATRE I’ve been an actor, theatre director, and playwright. Career highlights include directing Daniel Day Lewis at the Bristol Old Vic, devising and directing a play at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, and founding and running my own theatre company.
