Deborah Golden

After seventeen years, I retired in 2022 as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for GATX Corporation, a global leader in transportation asset leasing. In that role, I was responsible for legal, compliance and internal audit matters at GATX, managing a team of professionals located throughout the world. Prior to joining GATX as General Counsel in 2006, I was Vice President and General Counsel at Midwest Generation, Deputy General Counsel for the Illinois Governor’s Office, and Assistant General Counsel at Ameritech Corporation and SBC Communications Inc. I began my legal career at Schiff Hardin & Waite and was a partner at that firm until 1995. I currently serves as a Director and Chair of the Compensation Committee at Midland States Bancorp, Inc., a publicly-held, community-based financial holding company. I am engaged in professional and civic organizations and a speaker on various issues, including corporate governance, regulatory and legal matters.
