Demetrios Collins

Greetings, viewer! My name is Demetrios Lonnie Collins, Jr and I attend the University of Toledo. I am currently in my junior year pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. For as long as I can remember I've always had an interest for engineering and the process towards building a final product. As a child, I found it exhilarating to read toy manuals before assembling them. Once I enrolled into high school I took various courses allowing me to imitate the minor roles of engineers and technicians; in fact, metal fabrication was my favorite class! Since I’ve been at the University of Toledo I have had the opportunity to work with a very diverse group of intellectual people coming from different geographic backgrounds. Being involved with the National Society of Black Engineers and other school organizations is how these connections came about. The many experiences and ideas I have surrounded myself with have benefitted me academically and professionally; in other words, there’s always something to be learned! Exploring the endless opportunities within engineering has made me realize my peek interests lie within the manufacturing, automotive, and quality fields.
