Where I came from, - such as where I was born, what schools I attended, what jobs I have held – these are all things less important for you to know about me than where I have been. As one who lived on a rural dairy farm and in a modern college dormitory both in central New Jersey; attended graduate school in Minneapolis before they had sky bridges; helped raise a family of 3 children in St. Louis in the shadow of the world’s largest croquet wicket!; and now have just marked more than a quarter of a century in Sonoma County Wine Country, I am rich. I am rich with life lessons given to me through experiences with countless men, women and children of this great country. In this life lessons journey I have been able to visit all but 3 of our 50 states (Utah, Mississippi and Alabama here I come!) In the last decade I have begun to also explore the world beyond our shores after immersing myself for years in the literature, music and art of cultures, cities, countries and continents. In this journey I have also traversed countless bridges: Polaski Skyway, Brooklyn, Tappen Zee, Verazano Narrows, George Washington, Eads, Golden Gate, Sundial, Washington Avenue, Franjo Tudman, Lambert, Coronado, Healdsburg, Rialto, Ponte Vechhio to name just a few. James Madison once wrote that “experience is the oracle of truth.” For me the truth of my journey has been the affirmation that I have helped people accomplish wonderful things. This affirmation has been the common thread through more than two decades of guiding the philanthropy of others, followed by two more decades helping empower already successful people in an effort to grow, protect, enjoy and share their wealth. It is gratifying to help others find the ways and the means to build bridges over, around or even through real or imagined obstacles to their aspirations. Let’s have a conversation.
