Derek Coen

Derek Coen is the Chief Operating Officer and partner with Atlantic Electric Supply Corporation in Washington, DC. Since 1927, Atlantic Electric Supply has been an independently owned, full-line electrical distributor. Clients include government, military and institutional buyers, electrical contractors, architects, builders and homeowners. Derek is also active with the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC-Chesapeake) in the development of their solar electric training programs. As the chairman of the Renewable Energy Committee, he has overseen the establishment of several solar electric courses ranging from a basic introduction, to product training and hands-on labs. To date, the IECC has provided solar electric training for over 500 students. The IECC has been approved by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) to offer the Certificate of Knowledge exam. Derek is the holder of both the NABCEP Certified Installer and Technical Sales Certificates. He is dedicated to the growth of the PV market and promotes education, high standards and safe installations of solar systems.
