Diana Nicol

Professional Bio Diana Nicol graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Illinois State University in 1999. Just prior to graduating, Diana completed a semester-long internship with the American Red Cross in Bloomington, Illinois. Upon completion of the internship, Diana was offered a position at the Red Cross in their Health & Safety division. As Health & Safety Education Coordinator, she was responsible for coordination of all the CPR and first aid trainings that the Red Cross set up with local businesses. In 2003, Diana was promoted to the position of Director of Volunteers & Special Events. In this position, she helped organize numerous successful fundraisers/special events and managed over 450 volunteers. After leaving the Red Cross, Diana served as the Alumni & Volunteer Coordinator for Chestnut Health Systems, also in Bloomington, Illinois. Chestnut is a behavioral health institution and Diana worked in all areas of the organization, specifically the addiction treatment division. While there, she implemented a volunteer program as well as recreational events and activities for those recovering from addictions. Upon leaving Chestnut, she became a Program Associate with the SOAR division of Bloomington Parks & Recreation. She was later promoted to Program Manager. SOAR (Special Opportunities Available in Recreation) offers recreation programs for the special needs population. As Program Manager there, she supervised 25 part-time staff and plans and implemented over 50 different recreation programs each year. In the Fall of 2012, Diana relocated to Cape Coral, Florida, after accepting a position with the City of Cape Coral Parks & Recreation Department. She is a Recreation Specialist there and oversees programs and events at the Tony Rotino Senior Center. Diana’s colleagues have described her as a team player who is very motivated and goal-oriented. Her skills and attributes include being well organized, efficient, creative, outgoing and adaptable.
