Cloud is my passion. With the advent of large-scale IaaS providers that offer everyone easy and fast access to enormous computing power, new workloads, architectures and business models have emerged that used to be impossible in the past. As IaaS becomes more and more commoditized the industry climbs up the stack to see higher abstraction models such as PaaS become a reality. Now with the latest development in Linux containers and the incredible traction of projects like Docker and Kubernetes, even PaaS gets disrupted by FaaS (Function as a Service) platforms that reduce provisioning time of workload to milliseconds. I love being part of this ongoing revolution and shaping the future of these fascinating times in our industry. Tech-wise I am very interested in learning new things all the time. DevOps, Continuous Delivery, automation, logging, monitoring, maintaining large-scale distributed systems in general. Alongside come new programming languages like Scala or Go that keep teasing my brain with new concepts and make me rethink old habits. As cloud becomes the backbone of modern IT, so does open-source. Tools like git, Jenkins, Nginx, Elastic, Kafka, Zookeeper, Spark and Hadoop have become de-facto standards in their fields. To me, github feels like a warm, cozy café where I can hang out, learn, discuss, contribute and experiment with new ideas. So it is my expectation from an employer to support this cause, too. I like to work in self-paced teams, autonomous and with a constant feedback loop from stakeholders. Don't try to avoid failure. Fail early and fail fast. Fail better next time. Don't do Agile.
