Pioneer of the TV format industry (for games drama and comedy) and co-founder of FremantleMedia. Doug is an accomplished media executive with a proven record of building, turning-around and managing content businesses around the world. Doug has run businesses for some of the largest media conglomerates and advertisers (including Bertelsmann, Pearson, I.P.G., RTL, Unilever, IBM, & Coca Cola). He has always been tapped as a “new opportunity” guy inventing many of the businesses he managed. During the last 2 decades, Doug has served in various management roles at FremantleMedia as its ownership passed from The Interpublic Group of Companies, AllAmerican Television, Pearson Media and Bertelsmann Media. Doug’s role evolved from Supervising Producer to EVP Sales to CEO Europe, Latin America, Australia & Asia and Board Director. As the CEO of Europe, Latin America, Australia and Asia Doug ran all of the company’s television production activity in the regions. This included music talent shows such as the Pop Idol franchise (American Idol), daily and weekly TV dramas for most of the largest broadcasters and game shows such as The Price Is Right and Family Feud.. Doug built the foundation of his media career as a media buyer/planner in the media departments of Benton & Bowles, Wells Rich Green and SSC&B (which later became LINTAS). There he rose steadily from trainee to SVP, (Group) Media Director. As a media director Doug demonstrated his tenacity as a print and television negotiator with original tactics for maximizing media campaigns. At LINTAS Doug began his programming career by managing the European roll-out of local versions of The Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! for his client Unilver. As his career transitioned from media buying to television production Doug’s understanding of the advertising side of his clients station business allowed him to create several unique performance based business models which secured Fremantle a greater share of their programs value.
