GIS Director for the County of Rockland County, Department of Planning managing all aspects of an enterprise Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Possess 25 years of experience in all phases of the design, implementation, quality control and management of a GIS, as well as urban planning. The major focus of career has been the development of a comprehensive GIS approach to County government, culminating in broad access to computer mapping data, maps and applications via a GIS Portal. Began professional career working in a private urban planning firm, much of the time as a GIS Manager and Senior Planner. Worked as an adjunct professor at a New York community college (SUNY Rockland), where I developed and taught several GIS courses, and developed a GIS Certificate and Associate’s Degree program. Recipient of numerous awards, honors and letters of commendation, including but not limited to the following: - Rockland County received the GeoWorld Magazine Geospatial Leadership award for our GIS Portal, a gateway to Rockland County mapping resources. - Recipient of the Hammer Award from former Vice President Gore program for innovative government. - Selected by a former governor to be a member of New York State Cadastral Data Working Group. - Active member on other technical GIS, emergency planning and security committees at various levels of government. - Authored an/or co-authored various articles for technical publications.
