David Y Choi, Ph.D. Is the Conrad N. Hilton Chair of Entrepreneurship at Loyola Marymount University. David is an award-winning teacher of Entrepreneurship; director of the nationally-ranked Fred Kiesner Center for Entrepreneurship (e.g., ranked No. 7 by US News & World Report 2016; No. 14 by Princeton Review 2016; No. 11 by US News & World Report 2019, etc.); founding director of the Master Program in Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Innovation; and founding director of the Family Business Entrepreneurship Program in the College of Business Administration at Loyola Marymount University. He has also been a visiting professor at Peking University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Yonsei University, and Korea University, among others. David is a winner of the Pedagogy Award from the United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship and recipient of the President's Fritz B. Burns Teaching Award from Loyola Marymount University (given to one faculty member a year). He is a co-author of a pioneering book on sustainable entrepreneurship "Values-centered entrepreneurs and their companies". In the past, he was a researcher and founding member of the Leadership Initiative at Harvard Business School. Over the last 20 years, David has been involved with a number of successful startups. He has co-founded and managed companies in foods, trading, energy, life science, software, and financial services, several of which have been sold or gone public. David has advised dozens of early-stage startups that have become significant businesses including NB Postech, Banker's Toolbox, Liquid IV, Maya Tech, Natbthat, Craftmix, and Washington Abstract, to name a few. David has been a director of both private and public companies. Before LMU, David worked nearly 10 years as a management consultant and executive at Fortune 500 companies in both the U.S. And overseas. David was a strategy consultant with The Boston Consulting Group and Diamond Technology Partners. At Titan Corporation, a diversified technology company, David was responsible for various aspects of corporate venturing, including technology commercialization, venture investments, and growth. David received his Ph.D. In Management from The Anderson School at UCLA and an M.S. & B.S. In Industrial Engineering from UC Berkeley.
