Dr. Christie is the Chair of The Premier's Council on Charities and Civil Society. As Chair, Dr. Christie is accountable to the Premier through the Minister of Community and Social Service for the effective implementation of the Council's mandate. The council has conducted consultations with Albertans and service organizations resulting in 2 public reports – "Moving Forward: Charting a path to Civil Society Recovery" (October 2020) and "Supporting Women’s Economic Recovery" (April 2022). He is retired and has over forty years of direct senior and executive management experience. His experience includes 30 years in provincial and Municipal governments and 10 years in the private sector. He was the first Public Guardian for the province of Alberta and was the Research Manager for the Premier’s Commission on Future Health and Health Care for Albertans, which was instrumental in recommending the initial restructuring of the health care system in the 1990s. He was also the Social Planner for the Seniors’ sector for the City of Calgary. Dr Christie was President and founder of Particicom Inc.-- Managing Change through Participation and Communication. His areas of expertise include executive management, Community Development, and the development of organizations, particularly the management of strategic change in complex organizations. As a result of his community development experience and his doctoral research, he has developed processes that re-align the people, organizational structure and processes within and between all levels of organizations to increase their effectiveness, efficiency and innovation. His education includes a Master degree in Community Development as a method in Mental Health support and recovery, and a PhD. In the area of Health Care Planning and Evaluation. Dr. Christie has co-authored three books - "The Nurturing Leader: A Toolkit for Every Season of Organizational Growth" and " A Guide to Collaboration: Working Models of Comprehensive Community Projects". "Becoming Real Workbook: Further Along the Authentic Journey He has worked directly with and made presentations to private, voluntary and government sectors at international, provincial and community levels. These undertakings have included facilitating projects on visioning, strategic management, program planning, staff development and personal coaching.
