Exploring and finding answers to problems is one of my drivers. In particular, I like to build and create systems that solve problems. This is what led me to pursue dual degrees in Finance and Management Information Systems (MIS) with a minor in Leadership. Initially, I planned to pursue a career in MIS but quickly discovered a stronger pull toward Finance. I like to be able to explain situations and make recommendations with empirical data. I especially enjoy research – applying rigor to uncover facts or substantiate claims. One of my most enjoyable experiences was being selected as one of five students from my university to represent the school in the CFA Institute’s Research Challenge. Our in-depth equity, forecasting, and competitive analysis of Sonic Automotive advanced my team to the state championship to present our findings to a panel of CFA judges. Another defining moment in my early career was spending 12 months in Beijing, China, where I completed additional Chinese language programs and worked as a Finance Intern. I was the only English speaker in the office, which required me to speak Mandarin daily to effectively communicate in a foreign setting. This experience stretched my comfort zone and taught me to navigate complex relationships. It also equipped me to deal with ambiguity and get up to speed quickly in novel situations. I’m currently seeking a role that will leverage my finance and technical background as well as my experience and skills in research, analysis, integrating information from diverse sources, and strong presentation and communication skills.
