Eleni Kalyva

In 2013, I graduated from the University of Sheffield with a Master’s Degree in Architectural Engineering Design, specialising in Low Zero Carbon Technologies and Building Environmental Simulation and Analysis. From 2013, I have been working with Hulley and Kirkwood as a Sustainability Engineer, where I advise the Design Team and Clients on how to achieve holistic sustainable, low carbon and energy efficient building design solutions, also compliant with local Authority Planning, Statutory Regulations and CIBSE Standards. I have carried out numerous Low Zero Carbon (LZC) assessments and can provide advice on appropriate technologies to suit the project requirements. I also carry out thermal comfort, energy and daylighting assessments with a focus on the health and wellbeing of the building occupants. Being a key member of the HulleyECO team (in-house simulation and sustainability group within Hulley & Kirkwood), I have led multiple sustainability design assessments for a vast range of building types and sizes. Following the Decarbonisation of the UK’s grid and the Climate Change declarations, I strive to provide awareness and design solutions to Clients for achieving net zero carbon aspirations, as part of which I have completed Decarbonisation Studies, setting their future sustainability strategies. I am a BREEAM New Construction UK assessor, CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant, CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessor, WELL AP, Certified Passive House Designer and CDM 2015 Principal Designer. Being an active South West Women in Construction (SWWIC) and STEM Ambassador, I engage in activities related to students’ careers advice and introduction to construction.
