As a Managing Director in the London office of transatlantic legal recruiting firm Macrae, I represent accomplished law firm partners who are seeking to move firms. I also work with elite U.S., U.K. and international firms looking to strengthen their teams or open offices in London, Brussels, Paris, Germany, and Luxembourg. I see my role as that of an honest broker. I act with integrity and always have the best interests of my candidates and my clients at heart. As a former private practice lawyer, I’m well aware of the importance of establishing trust, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to a transition timeline that meets each individual’s needs. I understand the business and dynamics of law firms, as well as the cultural differences between competing firms and how these differences impact lawyers. By working closely with my candidates to understand their motivations, values and expertise, I effectively identify leading firms where their practices will thrive and, importantly, where they will flourish on a personal level.At Macrae, I’m part of a transatlantic team that works collaboratively across offices in London, Washington, D.C., New York, San Francisco, and Palo Alto. One benefit of this strategic approach is the ability to leverage an exceptional network of contacts at the highest levels of law firm management, which I’ve found often results in uncovering unique opportunities for my candidates. This network also provides tremendous benefit to my law firm clients. I believe recruiters can – and should – play a significant role in helping firms reach their goals of being more diverse, equitable and inclusive. I treat every assignment for law firms as a diversity search, introducing top-quality candidates who not only meet a firm’s talent needs but who bring diverse backgrounds and perspectives to the table. Prior to becoming a legal recruiter I enjoyed a varied legal industry career in Brussels. I practiced EU competition law at WilmerHale and Covington & Burling; served as a case-handler at the Directorate-General for Competition at the European Commission; and was a legal reporter for MergerMarket. At the start of my career, I interned at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and at the European Court of Justice. I hold a Master’s degree in Law from the College of Europe (Bruges). In 2011 and 2014, I was elected President of the Alumni Association of the College of Europe. I’m fluent in English, French, Italian, Swedish, and Dutch.
