I have worked in many different industries looking for a future career that would not only provide for my family but would also provide an avenue for personal growth. After working in the domestic violence field I knew that I finally found a place where I was able to make a difference. This experience helped me to find my passion: a career in assisting people overcome obstacles and affect positive change. After going back to school to further my education by obtaining a Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Social Work, I have gained further employment experience in the NYC shelter system, Child Welfare system, Mental Health system, and the Chemical Dependence field. Through my work, I have learned that having a support system, access to resources and the knowledge on how to navigate them is crucial to overcoming barriers.
