Strehler is a Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and a lecturer in the Department of Biomedicine at the University of Basel in Switzerland. Since 2006 he has also been an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada. His principal research interests concern the molecular mechanisms of calcium regulation and calcium signaling, including calcium transport systems of the membrane and calcium sensor proteins. Dr. Strehler has served as grant reviewer for numerous organisations (NSF, Wellcome Trust, BBSRC, Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Qatar National Research Fund) and currently serves on the Editorial Board of multiple journals including the Journal of Biological Chemistry (2013-2018) and Current Chemical Biology (2010-). His bibliography includes over 100 primary research articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and over 30 reviews and book chapters.
