About
Emily has been recognised as a Rising Star in the 2020, 2021 and 2022 Doyle’s rankings. Emily joined Sayer Jones in 2015 and has extensive experience in advising clients on all aspects of the Family Law and litigation process, having practised exclusively in the jurisdiction since her admission. Emily takes particular interest in financial matters, including those which encompass the division/retention of commercial interests and the construct of commercial valuations in the Family Law context. She acts on urgent financial matters including spousal maintenance and ex parte injunctions. Emily also acts on high conflict parenting matters, including those involving relocation and substance abuse issues. In recent years Emily has worked on matters with cross-border components with firms overseas including in Singapore, USA and New Zealand. Between 2018 and 2020, Emily participated in our Lawyer Exchange program with Gloria James Civetta & Co. Singapore (GJC). This has assisted her understanding on the nuances of Family Law matters in the South East Asian region which is a cornerstone of our Alliance with GJC. Emily is an active participant in the Alliance program, regularly coordinating CPD activities with our Alliance partner. Emily brings a compassionate approach to Family Law issues: understanding her role being to guide clients through what is an emotional, difficult and unfamiliar process, whilst balancing this with a focus on technical accuracy and strategy to ensure favourable outcomes. Emily holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours). She is admitted to practise in the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of Victoria. Emily has volunteered at the Barwon Community Legal Centre. She is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria and the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.
