Emily Pratten

I am currently pursuing my doctorate in English Literature at the University of Birmingham. My research involves the study and criticism of technology, specifically online misogyny, the Internet and social media, and the impact it has on democracy and political discourse. I have great interest in diversity and inclusion, intersectionality, and am a champion of greater media literacy both in education and across professional networks. I completed my MA at the University of Exeter and achieved a distinction, and then took a year out before my PhD where I worked as a Communications Manager for Standard Chartered within the London internal communications team. I also have experience working in the music industry, organising events, digital marketing and content management. I am a keen reader and writer and have an avid interest in sports, video games, cooking and the sea. I am hardworking and passionate about social responsibility, diversity and communications.
