Emmanuel Gallegos

Computer Science BS and soon-to-be MSCS at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign with a fully funded Fellowship Appointment. Specialized skills in Android development, computer vision, and data science, with the ultimate goal of dedicating my career to helping combat climate change via the development of smart cities. I recently helped develop a mobile system in order to help combat COVID-19. My sub-team focused on using infrared thermal imaging and deep-learning-based computer vision techniques to detect individuals with high risk of fever, and our findings were presented at the SPIE Defense + Commercial Sensing Conference in April, 2021. I’m currently employed by T’ena Health Technologies as a full-stack software engineer, with the task of designing and building a set of HIPAA compliant tele-rehabilitation apps, integrating a wearable kinematic sensor that will allow stroke patients in underserved countries to actively engage in their programs remotely. Prior to COVID-19, I worked as a private tutor as well as an elementary school coding instructor in the SF Bay Area. In my free time I am a musician, reader, writer, and amateur cook.
