About
I am a commercial attorney with over 18 years of experience. I specialize in transactions involving Latin America and the Caribbean, particularly in the area of information technology transactions (software licensing, consulting services, professional services, etc.), as well as in complex commercial contracts of various types. Since 2012 I have been working as in-house counsel for U.S. Companies in the software / IT sector. In this role I have gained extensive experience in the areas of software licensing, information technology (IT) contracts, mobile financial services (including MFS), Software as a Service (SaaS), professional services agreements, etc. I am also certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals as an Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) and GDPR. Before becoming in-house counsel, I worked for five years as a transactional attorney at the Dallas, Texas offices of Baker & McKenzie. As an associate in the International Practice Group I specialized in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), distribution and agency agreements, services agreements, buy/sell agreements, corporate restructurings, confidentiality / non-disclosure agreements, asset acquisition, joint ventures, partnership agreements, vendor agreements / procurement, and commercial contracts in general, as well as in providing general legal advise on a variety of topics and managing outside counsel in the U.S. And other jurisdictions. Prior to joining the Dallas office of Baker & McKenzie, I was an associate at the Mexican offices of the same firm, where I practiced Mexican law for three years. I am licensed to practice law in both Texas and Mexico. I also have a limited license to practice law as in-house counsel in New Jersey. Apart from speaking English, I speak Spanish fluently. I can also read, and to a lesser extent, speak Portuguese.
