Eric Newell, CFA

Eric Newell joined Equity Bancshares, Inc. (EQBK) and Equity Bank in April 2020 as the EVP/ Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Equity, Mr. Newell was the Chief Financial Officer at United Bank, a subsidiary of United Financial Bancorp, Inc. (UBNK), a $7.3 billion community bank headquartered in Hartford, Connecticut until it was sold to a larger regional bank in November 2019. In both CFO roles, his major responsibilities include oversight of financial management and participation in corporate strategy development and execution; oversight of accounting management; internal and external financial reporting; investor relations; interest rate risk management; liquidity management, and capital management. Mr. Newell also partners with the risk management team and the company's external auditors on Sarbanes Oxley and GAAP standards compliance.Earlier roles include an Assistant Vice President at AllianceBernstein in New York, NY where Mr. Newell worked under a mandate from the U.S. Treasury Department's Capital Purchase Program; an analyst role at Fitch Ratings managing a portfolio of bank and non-bank entities' credit default ratings and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as a Risk Management Examiner. Mr. Newell received a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Marketing from Northeastern University in Boston, MA, is a candidate for a Masters of Science in Business Analytics, and is a CFA charterholder.
