With the department of health, I log in postmortem specimens into PALMS and logbook. Then run blood specimens on Randox for screening. If specimens are positive, I aliquot out and ship the specimens to Drug Scan. Write SOP’s for the proficiency testing program for drugs of abuse in urine, blood and serum, alcohol in blood and serum, and lead. Help spike, aliquot, package samples to send to participants and grade the submitted results. In PALMS: I am able to approve demographics, add/remove tests, create a batch and enter in the results, build and add canned comments. I am also helping a coworking validating a method for PFAS using LC-TOF. At Quest diagnostics I did pain management testing(drug compliance testing) and forensic toxicology testing using LC/MS and GC/MS. GC/MS: In-charge of 30 GCs at one time. The GC used is Agilent 5973 with MSD Chem Station. Able to do trouble shooting and maintenance. LC/MS: In-charge of 24 LCs. AB-Siex triple quad 4500 and 4000. Use analyst for processing. Able to do basic trouble shooting and maintenance. Tech 2: Have an assay which I prep and monitor the ISTD, working standards and qcs. I completed a 15 week biology internship at The Center for Forensic Science Research and Education. The internship entails competency training in serology and DNA analysis, processing mock case samples, completing case files and reports, and receiving moot courtroom training. This internship provides me experience with case work and to become more familiar with the maintenance and operation of the instrumentation. The Masters program at Arcadia University allowed me to gain experience with Perkin Elmer GC/MS, Agilent GC/MS, solid phase extraction, method development and validation through my research. Furthermore, the program provided me with mock cases in DNA, toxicology and drug chemistry. The mock cases provided me hand on experience with chain of custody, documentation, analysis and report writing. Prior to attending Arcadia University, I earned my BS in Biochemistry with a concentration in Forensic Science at Cedar Crest College. As part of the curriculum for these programs, I have taken several courses related to specimen processing, forensic testing and quality control, all which have expanded my knowledge as well as increased my interest in this field.
