Erin Walker

Currently employed at Rio Tinto as Capability and Development Advisor at RSM (7 Mile), I assist in identifying, planning and coordinating the delivery of learning solutions across the business to ensure team members have the skills needed to do their jobs safely to mitigate the risk and increase business effectiveness. Previously employed with the City of Karratha as Community Engagement Officer, an integral part of my role was to develop relationships with local stakeholders, not for profit, community groups and sporting organisations. My forward and critical thinking with the capacity to anticipate and minimise risk are skills that were implemented every day within the role. Before the above role, I was employed by AMA Apprenticeship and Traineeship Services as a Business Consultant for the Pilbara and Kimberley regions. As a Business Consultant, I provided a suite of key apprentice, trainee and employer services, support, the development and signing of training contracts and the provision of access to Australian Government incentive payments, and provided mentoring for employers and Apprentices within the regions. As the Business Advisor and Events Coordinator at The Business Centre, I assisted businesses with everything from business plans to exit strategies. I also delivered the highly successful ‘Women in Business’ luncheons and networking events, as part of the Pilbara Women’s Network. I have built strong connections within the Pilbara region and recently completed a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) majoring in Management and Marketing at Edith Cowan University (2019). My background in community and stakeholder engagement and management, as well as event development and delivery goes hand in hand with my passion for working within the community and assisting organisations to become sustainable and feasible for the longevity of our region. I’ve also had experience in Business Management, owning and running my own businesses in the past.
