Evelyn Bateman

Ever since I can remember, my family and I enjoyed being outdoors. Whether it was hiking in the nearby forests, enjoying our garden, or stargazing on winter nights, I grew up loving nature. I knew from a young age that whatever I chose to do in my future, it must protect people and the environment. My passion for sustainability led me to pursue a career in wind energy. I began my education as a Bachelor's student in Energy Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. My experiences abroad during my time at Penn State motivated me to become a Wind Energy Master's student specializing in wind turbine aerodynamics and mechanics at the Technical University of Denmark. The culmination of my Master's education was my industry thesis in blade optimization. The incredible opportunities I have worked for throughout my education inspired me to give back as a teaching assistant for several courses throughout my Bachelor's and Master's. Even out of university, I still pursue my passion for mentorship and teaching by offering tutoring to younger students in math, science, and English. Upon graduating with a Master's in Wind Energy, I was employed in the two-year Graduate Program at Ørsted, the largest developer of offshore wind in the world. The Graduate Program gave me the opportunity to try out different roles including logistics, strategy, and engineering. After three job rotations, I am now permanently employed as a Metocean and Load engineer, where I work as both an engineer and a coordinator. My ambition is to gain technical experience as an engineer while tailoring my strengths in project management, coordination, and communication. Contact me on LinkedIn to start a conversation.
