Fernando Chafim

Fernando Chafim is a Master's degree student in Data Science at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. Recently (2020) was the winner in the university-level and top 10 in the national-level in Minsait Land Classification (the biggest Data Science Competition in Spain), designing a multiclassification algorithm to predict land in Madrid based on images provided by the Sentinel II satellite of the Copernicus service of the European Space Agency. ABD Ph.D. Candidate in Economics at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP). A constant learner from both the academic and business worlds. From the business world, he has worked in organizations such as Globo.com, Eroski, Smartup, RDT Engineers, Siemens Gamesa, and Kenmei Technologies, acquiring expertise in Machine Learning, specially Deep Learning for Forecasting, Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision (certified Tensorflow developer), machine learning pipeline at scale (Databricks Machine Learning Associate), MLOps (Azure, MLFlow) and Dashboarding with Shiny, Tableau (certified specialist) and Power BI. He has had a variety of teaching internships/experiences (Accounting, Methods of Economic Analysis and Mathematical Economics) for Economics and Engineering students at UNICAMP.
