Fran Hodgkins

I have more than 30 years of experience in educational publishing, starting out as a copy editor at Silver Burdett Ginn. I have managed projects and written and edited materials from students and teachers from kindergarten through high school, from leveled readers for ELL students to science TEs. I've worked in ELA, social studies, and science, as well as primary mathematics. I've created materials for both print and digital platforms, as well as video scripts. In addition, I've managed numerous editorial projects. I can evaluate, hire, and supervise writers and editors; my goal is to help them do their best work while meeting tough deadlines. I can also tell when it's time to let a freelancer go, which is one of the hardest things a supervisor can do. I've also written 30 books for young readers, from pre-K and up. One of my books, How People Learned to Fly, is an exemplar in the Common Core Standards.
