For the past twelve years as a software engineer, I have been at the forefront of evolving technology that has shifted monolithic systems to microservices, modernized organizational processes through continuous development practices, and driven traditional IT environments to cloud computing. I began my professional career working for Integration Point (now Thomson Reuters) , a mid-size SaaS company specializing in global supply-chain compliance. As a .NET Developer, I utilized an array of Microsoft technologies such as ASP.NET, ASMX web services, and SQL Server to develop enterprise web applications. My first significant project was creating a petroleum tank inventory management application for BP Global. Being a part of this project helped me understand the intricacy of software development and how it involves several entities working together to complete a project. In addition, this rewarding project inspired me to start studying a gamut of subjects in Information Technology independently, including enterprise architecture, software quality assurance, software product management, and cloud computing. To gain further exposure to new technologies, I transitioned to a role at CPI Security, a company specializing in advanced home security systems with real-time monitoring. I helped design and implement a web service application that syncs incoming customer data transmitted from DocuSign (an eSignature Solutions provider) with our internal security automation software. This project helped hone my programming skills and introduced me to new architectural and software design patterns, such as service-oriented architecture (SOA) and microservice architecture. As a Senior Software Engineer at AvidXchange, I write application code, assess statements of work for feature functionality, review proposals for potential software consulting vendors, and discuss the financial implications of accumulating technical debt for various projects. As a result, my tenure at AvidXchange help me expand my technical acumen, gain a more profound knowledge of the Financial Technology industry, refine my communication skills, and ultimately become an effective leader.
